How will imported products be affected under the new Canada Organic Regulations?

All imported organic products sold in Canada will be required to be certified by an accredited certification body that follows the rules set out by the Canada Organic Standard. 

Will the Canada Organic Logo appear only on food that is grown in Canada?

The Canada Organic Logo indicates that a product complies with the Federal Organic regulations, and is not an indication of origin.  If a product is imported into Canada, it must indicate the Country of Origin in near proximity to the Canada Organic Logo.

When will a business be able to use the Canada Organic Logo on its products?

The regulations come into effect on December 14, 2008 at which point products and packaging can display the Canada Organic Logo.
